Our mission is that you live an authentic experience with nature, to explore its charms, to discover the ancestral cultures and connect with your inner self.
Every day we look for new adventures in order to discover new cascades, water falls and overlooks in more than ten paths which are immersed in the heart of the jungle. During the day or under the stars of the missioner sky, you can travel many kilometers inside Don Enrique or into Yabotí Biosphere Reserve, always accompanied by a native baqueano who knows all the secrets of the surrounding biodiversity and thousands of amazing stories about the local culture.
In Don Enrique there is life wherever you look at: it is the ideal place to discover the jungle from a new perspective and connect with the essence of nature. Here you will be able to observe birds, mammals, reptiles, butterflies, mushrooms, orchids, ferns, trees and fingerprints everywhere.
Ideally thought for outdoor activities lovers, in Don Enrique we have kayaks for one or two people.
In the Paraíso river we have the possibility of delving into its beautiful and crystalline waters during the whole year. You can use the kayaks for making short and relaxing walks over the calm water close to the lodge or venturing in the ones that are further but accompanied by a guide.
The Moconá waterfalls are a unique spectacle in the world, that is produced due to a geological failure that make the waterfalls cover longitudinally cover the Uruguay river. The guaraníes named it Moconá, which is translated in their own language as “the one who swallows everything.”
You can enjoy the waterfalls from a nautical ride, inside the Provincial Park Moconá. The park opens its doors to its visitors on a daily basis from 09:00 am to 04:45 pm.
15 Route in 4x4
At Don Enrique we travel 60 kilometers all over the Provincial Route 15, a scenic ideal route in order to travel in 4x4, which crosses the reserves of the National University of Misiones and the Papel Misionero Reserve. With an outstanding beauty, during the journey we will revel in the contrasts: we will meet La Flor Colony, a vibrant colony of producers, and we will observe a dense vegetation and many birds, get to know age-old trees and have panoramic visits to the typical Guaraní villages.
Route of the essences*
El Soberbio was declared National Capital of Essences. The essences produced in the region are mainly lemon grass, citronella, geranium and pine essence. We give you the possibility of getting to know the essence production process by visiting a close farm which citronella is cultivated and is distilled in a traditional alembic where the magic takes place.
We will also meet about the main uses of these derivatives and how this practice is contributing to the preservation of Paraná jungle.
Life in the colony
Only a few kilometers from Don Enrique, you can find a small but vibrant settlement of farmers, called La Flor Colony, which is the native place of most of our coworkers. The neighbors of the colony are yerba mate producers and also produce Stevia, citronella, tobacco, pine, farm ecological orchards and more. Each family has landswhere they cultivate, and rear animals. They are characterized by a calm lifestyle and their hospitality
It is very common to see oxen carts ploughing the land and transporting the loads. In Don Enrique we visit some of these vigorous farms in order to meet the traditional lifestyle of the people that inhabit the colony.
Don Enrique is located inside the Huella Guaraní, which is a reserve corridor in which many Guaraní communities live. These cultures still preserve many of their ancestral traditions, they live in the typical constructions, have sustainable nutrition and preserve also their shamanic medicine.
At Don Enrique you can visit the Jejy Miní village, where the hostess is always Nicolás, the chief, or his son, José, in order to share with us their cosmo vision, the uses of medicinal plants of the jungle and the hunting traps that have been used for many years.
Bath in the woods
We invite you to enjoy this relaxing practice which lies in with walking in the jungle, focusing on fragrances, murmurs, sounds and sensations nature creates in order to reduce stress levels. It has been recently discovered that the baths in the woods reduce the risk of cardiac diseases, blood pressure and the immunologic system becomes stronger.
The jungle inspires us. The spirit of immersing ourselves in nature and just like birds build their own nests in trees we also have our: the mangrullo, a platform of 10 meter high, located in the heart of leaves, a special place to enjoy drinking mates under the trees and listen birds singing.
Fire place of ancestral legends
In warm nights, we light up a stove near by the river and we share native baqueanos` stories aboutancestral Guaraní culture. Nicolás, the chief of the Jejy Miní village, a Guaraní village that still preserves its old traditions, visits us in order to share the stove and amaze us with incredible legends of the jungle and stories of the Guaraní culture, while he also shows as the exquisite production of local handcrafts.
At Don Enrique we are passionate about gastronomy and specially cooking on fire. During warm nights we like to light up fire by the river and we create typical dishes in the grill or stove, like a good Argentinian barbeque or an exquisite chicken with beer sauce. We like to share big stories and good wines, being accompanied by the fire and the incredible missioner sky. We invite you to participate in the experience of cooking in the stove and revel in incredible flavors of the argentine cuisine
At Don Enrique you can choose how to help: you can help with the local production of food in the agro ecological farm, in the creation of natural fertilizers that come out of organic waste we generate or taking care of edible forest. Part of the energy we consume at Don Enrique is generated in this place: you can help with the production of bio gas in order to cook or to restore biomass in order to heat water and heat ourselves. Our focus is to help restore the Paraná jungle. You can also help to reproduce native plants at the greenhouse or plant trees where the jungle has been deforested.
